FaceApp is a native app that you can download to your device from AppStore or Google Play. The base version currently has 21 cool and subtle filters. The Pro version includes 28 filters that can completely change your style with one tap.

There are multiple options to handle the uploaded photo, an impression will be added as options to the editor, makeup, smile, hair colors, hairstyles, glasses, age, or beards. Backgrounds with filters, lens blur, overlays, tattoos, and vignettes are all part of the app. FaceApp's gender transformations have attracted special interest from the LGBT and transgender communities because of its ability to realistically mimic a person's opposite gender.

The app has a “hot” conversion available in 2017, which is supposed to make users more physically attractive, but racism has been accused of reducing blacks ’skin color and making them look more European. The feature was briefly renamed “Spark” before being removed. Founder and chief executive Yaroslav Goncharov apologized, declaring that the "complete solution" works because of the unfortunate side effect of the neural network caused by the training set bias. In August of that year, FaceApp again faced criticism when it featured "racial filters" depicting "white", "black", "Asian" and "Indian". Filters have been removed from the AP immediately.
